Kazakhstan has a huge potential for renewable energy sources, in particular, hydropower and wind energy. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan intends to significantly increase the share of electricity generated from renewable energy sources. In accordance with the national programs for the transition to sustainable development, an increase in the share of renewable energy in the energy balance of Kazakhstan to 50 percent by 2050 is envisaged. Thus, the role of renewable energy sources is becoming increasingly important for Kazakhstan.
JSC KazNIPIITES Energy (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) takes an active part in the development of renewable energy sources in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Thus, in early February 2015, for the first time in the history of green energy, Kazakhstan received a positive conclusion from the State Extradepartmental Expertise on the Working Project “Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 50 MW at the site of Burnoe in Zhambyl Region” developed by the Institute. To implement this project, Samruk Kazyna-United Green LLP was established, a joint venture created for the implementation of renewable energy projects, the founders of the Partnership are Samruk-Kazyna Invest LLP and the British holding United Green.
The Institute has successfully completed all the design stages for this object, starting from the development of a power distribution scheme, including the necessary approvals and obtaining technical conditions for connection, feasibility study and detailed design. On the part of Samruk-Kazyna-United Green LLP, the project was overseen by Mr. NN Kapenov, General Director. To date, the Institute has completed and performs design for 20 facilities at various stages (Power Distribution Scheme, Feasibility Study, RP). The list of facilities includes wind, solar stations, small hydropower plants, stations using biomass. The total capacity of the stations is 1.3 GW.
